Castle Hill RMS

Castle Hill RMS is an agency of the New South Wales Government. It is responsible for maintaining roads and administering road and Maritime safety. This means that the RMS is responsible for conducting driving tests and issuing drivers licences in New  South Wales. It is located at Shop 80, Level 1 Home Hub, Castle Hill. It is part of Services NSW Castle Hill.

Because Castle Hill is an approved driver testing location you can undertake each step in the process of getting a driving license at Castle Hill.

RTA Castle Hill

In 2011 the Roads and Traffic Authority and NSW Maritime were merged together to create The Roads & Maritime Services. The RMS is an agency of the New South Wales Government.  The Roads & Traffic Authority Castle Hill conducts driving tests. These tests are conducted from the Roads & Maritime Services Building. Which is located in the Services NSW offices at the Home Hub.

When doing a driving test at Castle Hill the test starts from the car park on the top floor. There are parking bays allocated for the driving tests. Make sure you bring your paperwork with you and have your log book completed. If your log book is incomplete or you did not bring all your paperwork you will not be allowed to do the test and you will have to re book your test and come back another day

Driving Test Castle Hill

The driving test in Castle Hill is conducted by the Roads & Maritime Services. Castle Hill RMS is a busy place and they have several examiners conducting driving tests. Which means they have several test tracks. Each test track takes you to a different location and tests you on different things. For example you will not do a three point turn and a reverse parallel park in your driving test. You will be tested on either a three point turn or a reverse parallel park depending on which test track you are taken on. Book Driving Test

When booking a driving test at Castle Hill there are a few things you should consider. Firstly there are a number of different driving tests conducted at Castle Hill. Make sure you book the correct test. A lot of people book online and do not realise that the booked a Hazard Perception Test when they wanted the driving test.

The Roads and Maritime Services do not provide you with the car for the test. This means you need to have a car to do the test. If you want to use your Learn to Drive driving instructors car for the test you will need to book your test at time when the car is available. You can use the same car you do your driving lessons in. Which means you will be familiar with the car.

P’s Driving Test

You need to pass the Hazard Perception Test (HPT) before you book the P’s driving test. If you have not completed the Hazard Perception Test and you try to book the driving test online the computer system will book you in for the Hazard Perception test first. When you have booked your driving test you will pay a fee. This fee is to book the test. You will need to pay another fee to do the test.

Note: There are exemptions to driving test fees for pensioners and concession card holders and the RMS will confirm if you qualify.

Disability Driving Test

This driving test can not be booked online therefore you will need to call the Roads & Maritime Services to book a disability driving test. If you have a physical disability and you want to do the driving test you will need a modified car to suit your specific disability. How long is the driving test?

Each driving test is scheduled to last 45 minutes which includes ten minutes for the examiner to check your log book and conduct a safety check of the vehicle. You need to complete the test route in order to pass the test, the amount of traffic on the road will effect how long the test lasts. For most tests you will drive for about thirty five minutes. However some tests take longer to complete. You do not drive any further it just takes longer due to the amount of traffic or road works.
