What is an Older Driver Assessment?

An Older Driving Assessment is a driving assessment for a Class C driver license holder. In NSW Transport for NSW may require you undertake a driving assessment at 75 years of age. All driver’s in New South Wales are required to pass an older driver assessment at 85 years of age.

You may be required to undertake a driving assessment for a number of reasons including:

  1. An unsafe or medically unfit report.
  2. There is a medical report from a medical practitioner.
  3. There is a question of fitness.

When your reach 85 years of age the Roads & Maritime Services will require you undertake an Older Driver Assessment. You will need to pass this on road driving test in order to keep you drivers licence. You can do this the RMS or with an Accredited Driving Assessor. At Learn To Drive we have Accredited Driving Assessor in a number of areas. With approval from the Roads & Maritime Services to conduct older driver assessments.

The Older Driver Assessment Scheme

Driving instructors who have an unrestricted driving instructors license meet the Roads & Maritime Services application criteria, including having additional Assessor Qualifications, can apply to become an Accredited Older Driver Assessor. If they have the required qualifications and experience the RMS will allow them to enrol in the Older Driver Assessment Course. Upon successful completion of the course they will become an Accredited Driving Assessor.

It can be a very stressful time when you are told you have to do the driving test again. For many older drivers the loss of your driving license would have a profound impact on your lifestyle. Advantages of doing the Assessment with Learn to Drive

There are a number of advantages to taking the driving test with an approved assessor. The biggest advantage is you can do one or more driving lessons with the assessor before you do the actual test. Therefore you will know the assessor and you will also know what they will assess you on. This is an important advantage because the driving test has changed a lot over the years. In addition you will likely get nervous about the test and be unsure of what the examiner wants.

When you receive notification from the Roads & Maritime Services informing you that you need to do the older driver assessment Learn to Drive can help you.

You will not be able to renew your full drivers license without passing the driving test.

Whilst you can do the driving test with the RMS. You can also do the driving test with our RMS Accredited Driving Assessor.

There are many advantages to do the driving test with learn to drive. The biggest advantage is that you can have a driving lesson with the examiner before the test. Therefore you can work out any weaknesses in your driving and prepare for the test.

In addition you will get to meet the examiner and learn how to drive to RMS standards before you do the driving test. In addition you will also be more relaxed when you do the driving test. Because you will know what the test involves and how the assessor will mark the test.

Older Driver Assessment Penrith

When you do the aged driving test in Penrith with the roads & Maritime Services the test will start and finish at Services NSW.  Unfortunately you will not be able to drive around with an RMS examiner before the actual test and learn what you need to know to pass. They will simply conduct the assessment and inform you at the end of the test of your test results.  Therefore your ability to pass the driving test will be adversely effected because you will not know how the examiner will mark the test. Nor will you know what is actual in the test or what you are required to do.

Alternatively if you choose to do the test with Learn To Drive Driving School you will have the opportunity to meet the examiner before the test. In fact you can do as many lessons prior to the test as you need. During these lessons you will learn what is in the test and how you can pass the test. In addition you will learn how the test is marked and what the examiner is looking for. When you know what is in the test you will have a much better chance of passing the driving test.

Older Driver Assessment Richmond NSW

Whilst you can do the older driver test at your local Service Centre in Richmond. You can also elect to do the driving test with an RMS approved driving assessor. At Learn to drive we have an approved assessor who conducts Older Driver Assessments in the Richmond area. By Choosing to do your aged driving assessment with Learn to Drive you get to deal with one person. You can do driving lessons with the person who will conduct the actual driving test.

Therefore you will be able to do driving lessons with your assessor and the lessons will be conducted in the Richmond area. That way you will be able to drive around Richmond and learn how to pass the driving test. Because your Learn to Drive driving instructor can identify and correct any errors in your driving before the driving test. Therefore you will have time to correct any problems with your driving and fully prepare for your driving assessment. In addition you would have met your examiner. Familiarised yourself with the requirements of the test.

Older Driver Assessment Springwood

For most older drivers it has been a long time since they were last required to do a driving test. We understand the stress you are under and appreciate how the loss of your licence will impact your lives. We have an RMS approved assessor in your area who can give you driving lessons in a relaxed and stress free environment.

Obviously a lot has changed with driving tests over the years and it would be a good idea to learn what you will need to do to pass the driving test. Just as one example there are a more roundabouts and road markings on the road now. Over the years driving tests have become longer and you get tested on more things.

Trial Driving Tests

Once you are confident that you know what is in the driving test and you know what you have to do to pass the test. It is a good idea to do a trial driving test. Because a trial driving test is conducted on a variety of roads and conditions similar to the actual driving test routes. This allows you the opportunity to see how you would go in a real driving test. It also allows you to get a better understanding of how the examiners conduct the driving test.

During your trial driving test we take you on a variety of roads and road conditions similar to the actual driving tests conducted by the Roads & Maritime Services. That way you have a thorough understanding of what it is like to actually do the driving test. In addition to that we mark the trial test the same way that they mark the actual test.
